I said no for a reason

I'm enjoying a snack of my favorite almonds when Maymay tried to steal some. I told her NO, but she took them anyway. As she happily chewed the stolen almonds her face went from elation to confusion. Her mouth flew open as she started to freak out. I couldn't help laughing as I helped her get them out of her mouth.

Did I mention they are the bold wasabi flavored almonds?

That's not how that works

Maymay: I want to watch Titanic at the Franklin Institute Imax.

Me: Well, it's not playing there hon.

Maymay: So? I want to see it there. Can we go?

Me: Nope. It's not playing there. We can't just show up and demand to watch Titanic.

Maymay: Why not? Have you tried? They might say yes. I really want to see it in Imax.

Me: That's not how that works.

Maymay: (deep sigh...) You don't know that. You haven't tried.

She then walked away from me shaking her head, obviously disappointed in me. Hopefully this means I don't have to spend my rare day off watching Titanic.

Yeah. Right.

Food on a stick

Maymay went through a phase where she'd only eat food on a stick. I'm not talking just corndogs or fruit kabobs. This kid insisted everything she ate had to be on a stick. EVERYTHING. She already had a very limited palate and this didn't make things any better. I learned to get very creative with meals, and I'm not bragging, but I got really good at it. Luckily this phase only lasted a year, although the desire to have food on a stick has never left her.
Maymay: Can we go to a state fair?

Me: Sure hon. You feeling the need to see pigs race? (Yeah, I think I'm funny.)

Maymay: (deep sigh) NO. I wanna eat foods on a stick and they are good at state fairs.

Me: I can make you something hon. What do you want?

Maymay: I said I want good stuff so I want to go to a fair. Promise me we can go to a fair and eat lots of foods on a stick. Pweese? (Major begging and puppy dog eyes)

Yeah, this is the easiest promise I've ever made the kid.
Looks like we've already missed a large local fair, but there are still two coming up soon. The Delaware State Fair (delawarestatefair.com) and The NJ State Fair in Sussex (njstatefair.org). If you're planning to attend either fair, let me know. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to get a picture with Maymay...and some food on a stick.

One of the most incredible people on the planet is my friend Kimmie. She is also Maymay's most favorite person. She invited Maymay over for the 4th of July since I'm working all day.

Me: Hey baby. Text Kimmie and see if I can drop you off on my way to work tomorrow.

Maymay: She asked what time.

Me: um...hows about 9am?

Maymay: She said ok. And guess what?

Me: um....aliens have landed on our street?

Maymay: You're NOT funny. Stop trying. Kimmie wants to watch Titanic wif me.

Me: Willingly? Did you offer her money?

Maymay: Nope. She asked me to bring the movie and we can watch it together. I didn't even ask. You should do that Momma. You should just watch wif me without me asking.

Me: Never gonna happen.

Maymay: And this is why Berry doesn't like you.
