Review: Run All Night

2/26/2015

Professional Brooklyn hitman Jimmy Conlon is more commonly known as THE GRAVEDIGGER. Jimmy was a mob hit-man, who was best friends with his boss Sean Maguire. But when Jimmy's son, Michael, is marked for death by the mob, Jimmy must go up against Sean to protect Michael at all costs. Together, he and Michael must avoid corrupt cops, contract killers and the mob to survive the night.

This was a really good action movie.Lots of running and lots of guns. Liam Neeson was fantastic in this movie but why is he always in a movie where his family is in danger? Joel was really good in the movie too. I did not picture Common as a killer though especially after that moving song he wrote with John Legend for Selma. It sort of  felt like a new version of Taken except instead of a mother or daughter it's a son. Shawn and Jimmy go from being friends to enemies pretty quick after the killing of  Danny.Michael and Jimmy spend the rest of the night running and avoiding bullets and jail time. This is a movie good enough to watch a second time or maybe a third time. The little girls were adorable too.

Nicky Spurgeon is an extremely accomplished con man who takes an amateur con artist, Jess, under his wing. Nicky and Jess become romantically involved, and with Nicky's profession of being a liar and a cheater for a living, he realizes that deception and love are things that don't go together. They split, only to see each other three years later... And things get messy.

Will Smith was fantastic as always. I love him and this movie was really good. He was really good at playing a con man. I never knew how easy it as for someone to con a person. No wonder so many purses, watches,or wallets go missing. My favorite part was the football game con when he conned Liyuan. That was kind of crazy and cool. I didn't understand how she starts off as an amateur but when they give her a test she does it professionally. Nicky and Jess were my top two favorite characters and my least favorite were Ownes and Rodrigo's character. Being a con person looks dangerous and I'm sure you are gonna end up in jail eventually. This is a movie I would probably watch again.

Review: Hot Tub Time Machine

When Lou finds himself in trouble, Nick and Jacob fire up the hot tub time machine in an attempt to get back to the past. But they inadvertently land in the future with Adam Jr. Now they have to alter the future in order to save the past - which is really the present.

This was a funny movie.I thought Craig and Clark were really good at playing their characters.I really liked the nerd song that Craig and Rob sang in the movie. I found it funny that Lou got in a fight with a smart Smart car and then made up with it.How do you even fight with a car? I thought the suicide prevention net was cool and that you could watch tv anywhere even if you were outside.I liked Jacob's house. It was pretty cool looking and fancy.Although I like hot tubs and time travel I think I rather go time traveling in the Tardis than a hot tub  that runs on some chemical. I did not like the head getting blown off. I thought Lou was mean but he changed which made me like him later on.This is not a movie for little kids. There is a lot of inappropriate things in this movie.

Review: Aspie Seeks Love

Film documentary, Aspie Seeks Love – is a new film documentary from ANIMAL, the production company who brought us the Sundance-winning BLOOD BROTHER.

Aspie Seeks Love is a film that follows David Matthews, a now nearly 50-year- old man who was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome ate age forty-one. He is an artist and writer of fiction novels. The film spans the last twenty years of David’s life in his search for love. While watching the film we follow a ‘fearless outsider who has been searching for love longer than many of us have been alive.’ David uses fliers featuring pop culture and ‘suave’ photographs of himself, in order to secure himself a date and to find love.

I really liked this movie. It's about a guy with Asperger's Syndrome (autism) looking for love. It is a documentary so it is true. The movie starts with David describing himself by reading from a flyer he created. David didn't know how to present himself so he used these flyers that he put up everywhere. He used odd headlines like Surrender to Dave, to grab women's attention. He tried this for 15 years.  That is a very long time. I was glad the movie explained more about who David is, and not just that he is looking for love. He is also an artist, and a writer who likes to collect postcards. I wish I could have seen some of his art. He also wrote Meltdown In The Cereal Aisle which was released sometime in 2012 or 2013. I do agree with David that people with Autism need to express themselves, but I don't agree that it has to be through writing short stories. I liked the way the movie showed some of the social struggles of autism. I felt really bad because he wasn't diagnosed with Autism until he was 41. That had to be so hard for him. I was also upset that his parents didn't believe he had friends in college. David had to get a picture with his friends to prove it to them. This made me sad. In 2012 he created an Ok Cupid account, which is an online dating site, and tried this different approach to getting women's attention. He worked very hard to meet women and never gave up. I liked that the movie showed him going on dates. That was interesting. It is very hard to make friends when you are autistic. It is even harder to find a special person to love. I liked David sharing his story.

A spy organization recruits an unrefined, but promising street kid into the agency's ultra-competitive training program just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius.

This movie was really good. Mark Hamill, Colin Firth, Michael Caine and Samuel L. Jackson were all really good for this movie.  Eggsy was my favorite. He was an amazing jumper, and was great at gymnastics. He made an excellent spy. I also liked how big his heart is. He is a good and loyal friend and never betrayed the people he cared about. It was a funny action movie. They had some really cool spy gear and some crazy cool moves. Sofia Boutella was scary with her crazy knife feet. I think I would have been more scared of her than anyone else in that movie. Colin Firth may be the second scariest spy in that movie. There could have been more explosions. Things going BOOM! always make an action movie better. I would watch it again because it was that good. The doggies were adorable too.

Review: Seventh Son

John Gregory, who is a seventh son of a seventh son and also the local spook, has protected his country from witches, boggarts, ghouls and all manner of things that go bump in the night. However John is not young anymore, and has been seeking an apprentice to carry on his trade. Most have failed to survive. The last hope is a young farmer's son named Thomas Ward. Will he survive the training to become the spook that so many others couldn't? Should he trust the girl with pointy shoes? How can Thomas stand a chance against Mother Malkin, the most dangerous witch in the county?

I liked this movie and thought it was pretty cool. I like the medieval costumes and the fact it was medieval times. There was great action in this movie, and even though she was a bad witch, there was a cool dragon! I like witches and magical things. My favorite characters were Tusk and Alice. Tusk is ugly and doesn't talk, but he is the nicest and most loyal friend. I wish I knew him. I didn't like the evil witches. They were very mean and treated all humans badly. Radu was interesting. He has axes on his hands and swings them everywhere without hurting himself. I didn't like Strix and his snake tongue.  Master Gregory was very cool. He was strong and fast. I didn't like that he was drunk a lot, but if you have to fight witches and evil things I guess it helps. Tom was strong and brave, and he was a very good apprentice. He learned fast and became pretty amazing. I'm not sure I understand what is so special about the seventh son or the seventh son's seventh son, but I did like the movie.

Review: Jupiter Ascending

Jupiter Jones was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning toilets and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine, a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along - her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos

This was an okay movie. The action scenes were done very well, and so many things went BOOM! The story bothered me. It was just bad. They made Channing Tatum a space werewolf. He was good, but didn't even look like he liked Jupiter much less loved her. Mila Kunis got to kiss Channing Tatum but didn't seem like she wanted to. I think Eddie Redmayne and Sean Bean were the best actors in the movie. I liked the scene with the bees, but I won't tell you more so I don't give anything away. Mostly I didn't understand the movie. The story didn't make sense to me, other than they were following Jupiter around. I stopped paying attention to the acting and looked at all the stuff going on in the background. I liked that better.
