Review: Slumdog Millionaire

I'm watching older movies in-between screenings of new movies. Here is one from 2008.

A Mumbai teen reflects on his upbringing in the slums when he is accused of cheating on the Indian Version of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?"

I thought this movie was good. The story was a little sad. His life was so aweful. His mom was killed and he was always getting beat up by someone. Later his brother ditched him and became apart of some gang. His girlfriend was always being kidnapped by someone everytime he found her. Although why didn't they just ask him how he knew the answers instead of beating him up for them. I mean couldn't they have just asked and get a simple answer like"It all happened in my childhood" or something like that. How would he have cheated anyway? He didn't have the answers and I think the only way he would have been able to cheat was if the host or someone who worked on the show secretly handed him the answers before the show. He wouldn't have the connections to even get the answers so how could he possibly have cheated. I do like that he loved Latika so much he would always find her and never stop looking. He even went on the show just to find  her. He didn't even know she would be watching. He just assumed. I also find it cute that she was his childhood friend and stayed friends even when they hadn't seen each other. She remembered him. It kind of almost feels like Romeo and Juliet. Except no one dies. Well besides his brother. Who sort of deserved it after the stuff he did. My favorite part is the Bollywood dance at the end. So entertaining.
