I need to be completely honest. I'm beyond excited to attend this screening tonight, and I'm a bit biased. I ADORE Bruce Willis. I loved all the Die Hard movies, and I'm pretty sure this one is going to follow the same formula: blow crap up, make sarcastic comments, and look completely badass doing it. Yep, I can't wait!
UPDATE:
Let me start by saying a HUGE thank you to the incredible people that recognized us from this website! You made Maymay very happy.
Ok, now about the movie. It's going to be hard to tell you my feelings about this movie without giving anything away, so I apologize in advance. Bruce Willis met everyone of my expectations. He was witty, badass, sarcastic, and I swear he gets better looking with each movie. I knew certain lines would be in the movie, "I'm on vacation" for instance, but it was so over used that I cringed the third, or seventh, time I heard it. He had moments that were so cliche that it was almost painful, but I didn't go see this movie expecting Oscar worthy acting. I did appreciate little things from his past Die Hard movies being included, and from the reaction of the audience, most got the inside jokes. There were moments where McClane made me laugh by his smirk or the way he defiantly raised his middle finger in a perfect salute.
Jai Courtney's Jack was perfect as McClane's son. Not only did they look enough alike to make it believable, but they had several mannerism alike as well. I can see him leading his own action movie in the near future. He spoke Russian so fluently that I thought he was Russian. Although I might be wrong because I don't speak the language.
I really hate to bring this up, but feel like it needs to be addressed. Mary Elizabeth Winstead was so stiff as McClane's daughter Lucy that I was genuinely uncomfortable for her. She improved at the end, but the scene with her dad in the car at the airport....well, you watch it and let me know if you disagree. I just have one word, painful.
Overall this movie made me happy to have seen it. It had tons of bad guys, big explosions, terrific action, one gory but perfect destruction of a bad guy, and enough moments that made me wanna yell, hell yeah, or something equally appropriate when bad guys get what they deserve. You should see this movie, but no rush. Don't go expecting anything more than to be completely entertained and to fall more in love with Bruce Willis. I did. hmmm.....I wonder if he'd date a stormtrooper?
